Not Too Young to Watch, Not Too Young to Make

Videatives Views feature of Sophie in the Trees:
"
In this video clip entitled Sophie in the Trees, a girl walks in the snowfall in the woods of Vermont. Children in Brooklyn view the video clip and add voice-over narration that gives description, motivation, and a questioning perspective to the video clip. Notice their ability to index specific actions in the video clip. Consider how this method can also be used to encourage children to reflect on their own experiences, to add purpose and motive to what they see themselves do. To read more about using video to increase reflectivity, go to this article on "instant video revisiting" in Early Childhood Research and Practice."
